CADKEY 19 is no longer
available. If you are currently running Cadkey 19 and need a
new license, you have two options. You can purchase CADKEY
Wireframe, however that does not have all of the capabilities of
CADKEY 19 or you can upgrade. That old software is still worth
something and we will put it toward the cost of an upgrade.
Don't wait until it is to late. UPGRADE NOW! If you are still
running CADKEY19 give us a call. |

Kubotek USA announces that
Bunkspeed’s rendering application
HyperShot can now be incorporated with its
KeyCreator CAD software for distribution within the Americas.
This integration is made possible by a partnership with Bunkspeed,
makers of HyperShot. The agreement will further enhance the speed
and flexibility for designers and engineers to not only create 3D
models, but to then render them into photographic imagery for use in
design, engineering and marketing.
HyperShot is the first digital camera for 3D data. Using
scientifically accurate materials and real-world lighting in
real-time, the patent pending application gives anybody involved
with 3D data the ability to create photographic images in
a matter of minutes.
Kubotek USA has developed a plugin for HyperShot that allows for
seamless integration of the two technologies. By combining the
flexible, direct modeling 3D CAD technology of KeyCreator with such
a simple and intuitive, real-time rendering software, Kubotek
customers will be able to bring their CAD data to life quickly.KeyCreator

The new
SpacePilot PRO by 3Dconnexion |
|
|
|
On
April 16. 2009, 3Dconnexion,
A Logitech company, launched the new
SpacePilot PRO and it is worth checking out.
Gone
are the days when 3D navigation meant endless mouse
clicks to move around an object or to fly through
space and remembering how to change views and
control objects within the X, Y, Z axes...one
tedious step at a time. Plus, it is no longer
necessary to remember different application's unique
commands for manipulating 3D objects or scenes.

Using SpacePilot PRO together with a mouse engages
both your hands in a natural, intuitive work style.
One hand drives the SpacePilot PRO, positioning your
model, then rotating, panning and zooming in one
single, fluid motion. Your mouse hand can
simultaneously edit the model or select menu items.
The
objective is to minimize the tedious view manipulation work,
normally assigned to the mouse and menu picks, Thus, the mouse
becomes more productive and 'freed' of obligations it is not well
suited for. Your return on investment will be realized within
a very short period of time.

There are
a number of options when researching Design Analysis
software solutions that will suit a variety of needs. Most
Design Analysis
software providers offer the ability to bring KeyCreator data in
from such file exchange formats like SAT, IGES and other "non
native" KeyCreator data types. Although a valid exchange of
information, there is an obvious down side. |
|
|
|

The
purpose of testing designs using a wide range of analysis and simulation
tools is to verify and improve product designs through virtual prototypes
rather than costly physical prototypes. Once such virtual analysis has
been performed the natural following process is to go back to the CAD design
and "better the product" based on the 'virtual testing' results. Of
course, you would want to re-test the new results. This process would
normally take multiple iterations until the product has been optimized
satisfactorily.
If KeyCreator data is imported into the Design Analysis software
by method of IGES, SAT, STEP or 'what ever' than Loads,
Boundary conditions and such information specific to Design Analysis would
need to be re-defined after each modification to the CAD design. ALGOR
however has the ability to work with KeyCreator native data and even has a
simple button placed in the KeyCreator interface that loads such changes to
the design analysis tools where Loads, Boundary Conditions and such once defined are still relevant. The trick here is a smooth
and simplified transition of work flow.
The other plus is that there is no bigger name in the Design Analysis Tools
industry than ALGOR.
More than 20,000 customers in 95 countries have used ALGOR software and
services to design products such as jet engines, Broadway set designs, heat
exchangers, circuit boards, large telescopes, plant piping systems, MEMS and
biomechanical devices. They offer the full "breath and width" of
Design Analysis options These
options include static stress and Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) with
linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics, fatigue, steady-state
and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteady fluid flow, electrostatics,
full multiphysics and piping. These analysis capabilities are all available
within FEMPRO, an easy-to-use single user interface that supports KeyCreator
as well as other CAD applications. |

A mold provider typically
serves many customers. Three fundamental factors that affect a mold
shop’s success are time, cost and quality. Their CAD data
normally comes to them in a variety of sketches, drawings, or solid models generated by
multiple CAD formats from UG or CATIA to IGES or STEP and so forth.
Since data imported into KeyCreator is treated as though
it was created in KeyCreator, working with such information can be
easily managed and manipulated. KeyCreator also offers the Mold Maker a full
set of tools that can modify any type of geometry to better the Mold
Making design process. Such flexibility in managing and
manipulating various forms of Data goes beyond what the other CAD
software's declare as "Dumb Solids". Maybe such "non-native
data" isn't so "Dumb" after all.
Yet Mold makers have specific tasks they
perform over and over again using rudimentary work flows.
For this reason Maven Micro Systems is now proud to offer Expert
Mold Designer from Cornerstone Technology Inc.
|
|
|
|
Fully-integrated
into KeyCreator and designed exclusively for KeyCreator, Expert Mold
Designer automates the mundane tasks mold designers face every day.
XMD has Knowledge built in. It examines the part and based on this
information, the system (using it’s built in knowledge) recommends
mold sizes, calculates component sizes and placement, and then draws
and manages the design in both 2D and 3D.
|
|
|
|
XMD’s
approach to automated mold design allows the designer to begin the
job with whatever data they have. Whether it is a 2D/3D wire
frame, Surface model or Solid body of the part. XMD will analyze
part geometry, body lines, mechanisms, and inserts if present and
take them into account. XMD will propose sizes for cavity and
core blocks along with parting line locks, if indicated. The
designer may modify the core, cavity and locks in whatever way
necessary, merely by digitizing a dimension. Also by using
XMD’s Setup feature, the designer has precise control over the
position of the part within the molds exact length of pin needed,
project the curves on the part surface to display the conditions on
the top of the pin. XMD will keep track of the number of pins
and their catalogue numbers and add them automatically to Bill
of Materials. XMD will then create a chart of all the ejector pins
in the job showing the length required, defined stock to be left on
each pin, cut off length, and whether the pin should be keyed or
not. This way the pins can be prepared for assembly in the
mold right from the charts. The Bill of Material is generated
automatically and can be exported to any spreadsheet for ordering.
Adding water lines to the job is a breeze with XMD. The tools provided
allow Mold Makers to design the way they think. Place water lines at
a set distance apart and then tweak the locations to fit. If
they prefer to design water lines in their 2D drawings XMD will create
the 3D circuits for them.

3D dynamic models for your web
site |
|
|
|
|
|
Nothings
more impressive than providing your customer with a live 3D dynamic
model right from your web page. KeyCreator, sporting the HOOPS
API, has a wonderful solution for this and it's free. It's
relatively simple too, if you have a small amount of web publishing
experience. While playing with this, to provide you an
example, I found the most time I spent was not to create and
implement the code into our web. That only took 15 minutes.
What took me the most amount of time was experimenting with how I
wanted to present the graphic data. For example, initially I
decided to put the 3D model right inside our KeyCreator home page
nestled inside the text of my document. No borders or menus
just a 3D model ready to manipulate with your cursor. I
optioned not to do this for two reasons... |
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. |
The first time
you view the HOOPS data stream you may be prompted to
download and install the Active-X plug-in for your Explorer.
Light weight and of no consequence to your computers
resources as it may be, in today's suspicious times you, the
viewer, would not know what the origin of this request was.
Sending you to a separate page allows me to explain the
nature of this request "before hand". |
|
2. |
After "sole
searching" I decided that I would prefer the option to
decide whether I was presented with this information or not
if I was browsing around on a web site.
There is a short load time. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Therefore, my decision was
to direct you to a separate page while explaining the above.
Your application and needs may well be otherwise. Be
forewarned, although high-speed internet bandwidth facilitates this
process well,... 'Dial-up sucks'....... |
|
|
|
|
The "Low-Down" to
make this happen |
|
|
|
|
|
You need two things. Fortunately
KeyCreator provides both via the HOOPS 3D Stream Control by
Tech
Soft America. Any geometry or assembly definitions can
easily be exported as .hsf, ' HOOPS Stream files' which drive the
real time 3D presentation.
'File>Export>HOOPS Stream File' menu. But that's only one item
needed. I find it easier to export the 'Files>Export>Hoops Web
Page" to not only get the .hsf file but the HTML file containing the
code needed to provide this service to the web audience.
Simply copy the HTML code from <OBJECT> to </OBJECT> from the
resulting web page and make sure the .hsf file is in the same folder
as the web page you reference it from.
Now it's your turn. Send me a link if you do some. I'd
like to see some other techniques in applying this. |
